Wolfgang è uno scienziato e biotecnologo. Gli studi di botanica presso l'Università di Vienna gli hanno permesso di svolgere un periodo di ricerca presso la stazione tropicale La Gamba, in Costa Rica, dove ha analizzato i composti prodotti dai funghi tropicali che vivono in simbiosi con le piante. Affascinato dalle complesse interazioni tra funghi e piante, ha proseguito la sua attività di ricerca presso l'AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology) e ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca con la tesi dal titolo "Fungal chemical communication" presso la University of Technology di Vienna.

Wolfgang desidera mettere a disposizione di progetti sostenibili e attenti all’uso delle risorse le proprie esperienze e conoscenze. Con la fondazione di MyPilz, ha trasformato la sua passione di una vita nella sua professione.
